Privacy without surprises.

Hangbuddy does not collect behavioral analytics, contacts, filenames, screen contents, or a persistent user identity.

Optional diagnostics

Diagnostics are off by default. If you explicitly turn them on, Hangbuddy uses Sentry to receive crash reports and a 5% sample of performance spans created by Hangbuddy. Reports may include the app version and build, release channel, macOS version, processor architecture, physics schema, crash stack, and technical timing data.

Screenshots, view hierarchy, session replay, request bodies, user identity, and default personally identifying fields are disabled. Turning diagnostics off closes Sentry and deletes Hangbuddy’s queued Sentry envelopes from your Mac. To request deletion of server-side diagnostic data, email privacy@hangbuddy.app with the approximate date and crash context; because reports contain no account identity, we may not be able to identify a specific anonymous report.

Downloads and updates

The website and update feed are delivered by Cloudflare Pages, while versioned installers are stored in Cloudflare R2. Cloudflare may process ordinary delivery logs such as IP address, requested URL, user agent, and timestamp for security and reliable delivery. Hangbuddy does not combine those logs with in-app activity. Operational log retention is configured to the shortest practical period supported by the production Cloudflare account.

User-initiated exports

Diagnostic Export creates a local JSON file only after you choose a destination. It contains the app/OS/architecture and sanitized Hangbuddy settings. It excludes display UUIDs, usernames, home paths, and unrelated files. The file is not uploaded automatically.
